BREED: GSH / Malamute

GENDER: Male

AGE: 3 years old in March 2020

SIZE/WEIGHT: 85 pounds

HISTORY: Was neglected and abused by previous owner. Atlas is flying in from Yellowknife, NWT on Dec. 6.

TEMPERAMENT: Very good 90% of the time, will grunt if someone he doesn’t trust touches him while he’s eating or if a man try to discipline him by touching him directly instead of using a leash. He was tied up and previously highly neglected and also abused. He will come around though, we have faith we can rehab him.

PERSONALITY: Goofy, craves affection and social interactions, rough playing, fetch, belly scratches, car ride, walks and play with my female GS.

HOW IS DOG WITH CATS, KIDS, OTHER ANIMALS: He is good with the SPCA’s toddlers outside the house, but since he gets triggered by food, I wouldn’t put him with young kids inside a house, he’s really good with female dogs, they love to play together! Don’t know about cats or other animals.

PETS NEEDS/BEHAVIOURAL INFO: Craving social interactions, but has trust issues, especially with men.

BEST MATCH: Couple or a women, not first-time dog owner, will need a strict training and house training, he’s living outside at the moment in NWT, the fosterer noted: I wish he could live inside a house as he spends his days looking at us through the windows and crying like a puppy to get in (She has toddlers).

FAVORITE THINGS: Tennis ball, being chased by our other dog.

SPECIAL NOTES: The dog is a product of a pure-bred dog being bought by an Alberta breeder who did not do her research on where the dog was going (Sachs Harbour) The owner was a cruel and heartless man.

BREED: Labrador and Akbash (Anatolian Shepherd Dog)

GENDER: Male

AGE: 5.5 months old

SIZE/WEIGHT: Large (when full grown)

HISTORY/BACKGROUND: Toddy was one of the lucky dogs arriving from Turkey where a vast amount of homeless dogs are left to their own until someone helps and feeds them. Toddy was lucky, he survived and flew to Calgary wit a veterinarian who helped save and sponsor his trip. Toddy was living in a gas station with his rescuer for a while. He’s very friendly with humans, children, cats and other doggies He is a friendly soul.

TEMPERAMENT: Very Active, outgoing, happy-go-lucky. Toddy has a wonderful, sweet soul. He’s a beautiful, sweet puppy!

PERSONALITY: Toddy is a very playful, has a lot of energy and wants attention, like any puppy. He also is an easy going doggie after getting exercise.

BEST MATCH: He’s a friendly dog, he’ll be a good family dog for active families. Someone who is active since he’s a playful puppy with energy. An adopter with another dog would be nice too since he really loves playing with other dogs. A large backyard. Someone to teach basics and take on adventures, hiking, dog parks.

NAME: Chris

BREED MIX: Pitbull / Shepherd mix

GENDER: Male

APPROX. AGE: 5 weeks old (as of Nov. 27)

SIZE: Medium (when full grown)

HISTORY/BACKGROUND:
Found abandoned with a bag of food and baby wipes in a box.

TEMPERAMENT & PERSONALITY:
Super playful, affectionate, loving, a typical darling puppy 🙂

BEST MATCH:
Someone home a lot since he need company during the day being we have no idea what happened to his mother or siblings. Someone to teach him basic training and ongoing socialization growing up. Trips to dog parks many times a week to run when older.

FAVORITE THINGS:

  • Being held.
  • Playing with Benito the chihuahua.
  • Playing tug with stuffies.
